Cross the Paracas
Desert and Lurin Valley, visit the solitary south beaches,
downhill roads, green valleys, and pure rivers where trout
is caught and prepared campside. Visit Andean towns that
dress traditionally and welcome visitors warmly. Included
is a visit to Machu Picchu by train from Cuzco with plenty
of photo opportunities. Get off the beaten path and see
the tourist sites of Peru on a mountain bike.
DAY 1
LIMA
~ CIENEGUILLA ~ PACHACAMAC ~ PTA HERMOSA ~ CHICHARRONERIA
~ CHINCHA
Like in all big cities, there are hidden places for mountain
cycling enthusiasts to practice their favorite sport, mountain
biking. While journeying around the flat landscape of
the Lurin Valley, adjustments will be make to the bicycles
in preparation for the next week. Cross bridges, pass
the river, and visit the beaches in the south of Lima.
Since these are some of the best beaches in Peru, they
will be busy during the summer months with surfers and
Peruvians. In the afternoon, travel by car to Chincha
and overnight in a comfortable hotel. In Chincha visit
one the oldest wine cellars in Peru and sample the best
wines.
About 15 miles of road and 15 miles of dirt riding; Total

DAY 2
CHINCHA - PISCO - PARACAS
After breakfast begin the journey accross the desert of
Ica. Since the winds strengthen in the afternoon, take
the morning to gain ground. Enter the Paracas Reserve
and enjoy lunch with beaches nearby. Continue pedaling
in the afternoon only with the wind on the side until
arrival at the hotel in Pisco. Visit this city after a
warm shower in the hotel. About 37 miles biking on dirt

DAY 3
PARACAS - TROUT'S CAMP RIVER
Acclimatize today on smooth roads and cross the Andes
where it's possible to encounter snow. Travel downhill
on an asphalt road from the highest part of the Apacheta
at 15,570 feet that takes you to the Trout´s valley
at 11,155 feet. Here spend the night and have delicious
trout for dinner, prepared by an Andean expert cook. About
23 miles biking on asphalt roads. (B,L,D)
DAY 4
TROUT'S CAMP RIVER - AYACUCHO CITY
Descend downhill 11,800 feet to the beautiful city of
Ayacucho at 8,530 feet. In the old jail, merchants sell
tasteful handicrafts of high quality. Rest in the best
hotel in town and recover from two hard days of high altitude.

DAY 5
AYACUCHO
Early departure for the most beautiful journey of the
trip. Leave Ayacucho through a valley filled with cactus
where cactus fruit are produced. Continue pedaling to
a high zone located at 12,800 feet. Descend the curved
roads through the green valley filled with flowers and
plants that leads to the river at 6,200 feet. Swim in
the clear waters of the river warmed by the sun after
a long but lovely ride. Supper will be especially high
in carbohydrates so you'll easily recover for the next
day's tour. About 33.5 miles on dirt roads. (B,L,D)
DAY 6
ANDAHUAYLAS
Before leaving the valley you can buy some sugar cane
for energy while you pedal. First travel uphill by vehicle
to 13,000 feet. then take a technical trail with narrow
curves downhill to the small town of Andahuaylas at 8,850
feet where you'll spend the night. About 27 miles of biking
on dirt roads (B,L)
DAY 7
ANDAHUAYLAS - ABANCAY
Today's journey encounter friendly Andean people unused
to seeing tourists or bikers. There are many photo opportunities
of the green mountains, fields, homes and people. From
11,290 feet start the descent to 5,750 feet to another
riverside. In Abancay settle in to a comfortable hotel.
About 24 miles of biking on dirt roads. (B,L)
DAY 8
ABANCAY - CUZCO
After breakfast at the hotel travel by vehicle to the
highest point of the valley. At 12,500 feet descend for
36 miles to the lowest part of the valley located at only
5250 feet. Arrive at Cuzco for a well deserved rest. About
36 miles downhill on asphalt roads (B,L)
DAY 9
CUZCO CITY- MACHU
PICCHU - CUZCO
Rest from biking and take the scenic train to Machu Picchu.
Leave early from Cuzco and spend a long day touring the
Incan ruins with a guide. In and around Aguas Calientes
there will be opportunities to shop for colorful Peruvian
handicrafts. Arrival is late into Cuzco where you say
farewell to your guide. (B,L)
DAY 10
CUZCO...
Stay in Cuzco for further exploration or continue on to
Lima, Lake
Titicaca or even the Amazon.
