Easy to Moderate biking adventure includes: accommodations (5 hotel nights), meals as specified, guided excursions, and private transportation.

Nights in comfortable hotels, and easy to moderate pedaling trips in and around the Andes. Gradual acclimatization to the altitude and climate is utilized.

Visit the Callejon de Huaylas and descend from the Dark and Cordillera Blanca that comprise a chain of 32 snow peaks, some of them at 21,000 feet or more. The views are scenic with moderate distances and difficulty pedaling. For those who enjoy craftsmanship, there is a visit to Tarica, a town where clay artisans export their renown crafts all around the world. In Carhuaz, try "manjar blanco", a milky candy and their exquisite recipe for trout.

End the tour with a descent from the Dark Mountain Range to the coastal desert for a downhill adventure with unforgettable views.

DAY 1
LIMA ~ HUARAZ
Spend a peaceful day driving the North Coast with it's beautiful beaches with huge ways. On the way to Huaraz stop at the fishing towns along the way. After 125 miles journey to the highest spot around midday when the weather is warmest. In order to acclimatize to the weather and altitude ride downhill on easy paths to Huaraz. Check into comfortable accommodations. About 22 miles of downhill riding on asphalt roads. (B,L)

DAY 2
HUARAZ
Continue adjusting to altitude and weather with an early start. Bike with views of the 32 snow peaks of the Cordillera Blanca down to the famous Callejon de Huaylas. In Tarica, stop where they sell artisan crafts made out of clay. To calm the appetite, try the homemade ice cream from Carhuaz, famous for their delicious flavors. Drive up one of the biggest snow peaks on this side of the valley, Huascaran at 22,200 feet. At about 11,000 feet see the Dark Mountain Range on one side and on the other side Huascaran with its huge ice and snow walls. From here pedal a somewhat technical dirt road downhill among sowing fields and people that don't have much contact with the world. Accommodations in a comfortable hotel in Huaraz. About 20 miles on asphalt roads and 13 miles on dirt roads. (B,L)

DAY 3
HUARAZ
Today to the lowest point of Callejon de Huaylas and visit a small town called Caraz where "manjar blanco" a sweet made out of milk, may be sampled. Continue up the Dark Mountain Range to about 13,500 feet where the downhill bike trip begins. The descending journey views small houses with red tile roofs, cultivated fields and an artisan mine of charcoal. End in Huaraz for the last night in town. About 21.75 miles of biking on dirt roads. DAY 4
HUARAZ ~ HUANCAPETI PASS ~ HUARMEY
Very early in the morning ascend the Dark Mountain Range to 14,435 feet. The steep decline produces fast speeds and chilly conditions but the views are beautiful. Leave the Cordillera Blanca behind as you approach the sunny coastal desert and the view changes to sand dunes where an oasis of farmland in a valley is discovered in Huarmey. Here in where the ancient Chimu culture dominated spend the night in simple accommodations. About 43 miles of biking on dirt roads. (B,L)

DAY 5
HUARMEY ~ LIMA
Take it easy and watch the northern beaches go by with a stop for lunch by the beach. In the afternoon arrive in Lima and check into a hotel. (B,L)
