Enthusiasm for mountain and road biking
is on continuous rise in Venezuela since a couple of years
ago which is reflected in the opening of new routes all
along this south american country.
The main center for biking trips is the
city of Merida, the historical capital of the Venezuelan
Andes.
Pedal to the quaint village of La Azulita, reached through
a marvelous cloud forest, rounded off with a fantastic
downhill or perhaps to Los Nevados, a remote farming settlement
at 8,500 feet. Another great ride starts in Mucuchies,
a charming town dating back to 1596 along the Trans-Andean
Highway, and head into the Sierra Nevada National Park,
crossing a mountaintop wilderness preserve. A typical
day's ride covers some 35 miles, depending on the terrain
and your experience. Most riders spend about 60% of their
time exploring on paved mountain roads, and the rest on
dirt trails. New front suspension 9 speed Jamis mountain
