Wednesday
Airport reception and transfer to the dock for a 2:00
PM departure from Iquitos and board the vessel, the M/V
Rio Amazonas.
After settling in, set sail along the main
channel of the Amazon River towards the town of Pevas.
Time permitting, there will be an afternoon shore excursion
to a local farm and sugarcane still. In the evening, following
dinner on board, there will be a group discussion. Information
will be given about the upcoming cruise events. (B,L,D)
Thursday
Morning arrival in the Ampiyacu River area. After breakfast,
take an excursion to Pucaurquillo, to visit Huitoto and
Bora Indian villages. Observe first hand the way of life
along the Amazon. Watch some Native folk dancing and trade
for handicrafts with the locals. Return to the ship for
lunch and a little relaxation while the boat continues
to sail up the Ampiyacu river. This afternoon there will
be a jungle walk and a visit to yet another Indian village
known as Ocaina. After dinner depart by small boat for
an evening excursion. It's possible to spot the caimans'
eyes in the glow of the flashlights while listening to
the incredible sounds of the jungle at night. (B,L,D)
Friday
Early wake up call for a bird watching excursion through
the tributaries and on nearby lakes. Return to the ship
for breakfast. Later in the morning, the ship will stop
at a Yagua Indian village to see a "blowgun"
demonstration by the natives. After lunch on board, we
sail on to Pevas where we will visit the house of a famous
painter, who lives and works here. His craft depicts the
every day life in the Amazon River Basin. Late afternoon
we leave the Ampiyacu River and head back on the main
channel of the Amazon towards Iquitos. After dinner have
a farewell meeting where the areas visited are discussed.

Saturday
After breakfast on board, disembark in Tabatinga and transfer
to the airport for your flight or to your hotel or stay
on the boat for an additional 4 nights back to Iquitos.
