Both San Martin de Los Andes and Bariloche are technically located in the Patagonia of Argentina but more specifically in the Lakes district. Although most popular in December through March the Lakes District is a also popular in the austral spring and fall.
Beautiful landscapes dazzle and pristine air will fill your lungs. Bariloche, also known as San Carlos de Bariloche, is charming
in a European fashion. All the creature comforts
are here among the hilly avenues and quaint buildings.
Chocolate-making is a tradition,
and almost no visitor leaves without a sample. Activities are as varied as the landscape from biking the Circuito Chico, whitewater rafting, fishing, and hiking in and around the Nahuel Huapi Lake.
In Bariloche, the
charming Design Suites, El Casco or the famous Hotel
Llao-Llao will graciously accommodate your
desires. Close by but more low key is the Tunquelen Hotel. Those looking for a real getaway will want to spend time at Hosteria Isla Victoria in the middle of Lake Nahuel Huapi Lake. For one of the best day trips in all of South
America, arrive or depart to Chile from Bariloche by a series
of Lake Crossings to or from Petrohue or Puerto Montt.
Outside Bariloche, Las Balsas in Villa Angastora is more secluded. Hosteria Pampa Linda is great for families with on-site horseback riding and hiking. Arelauquen mainly appeals to golfers with a fantastic location.
Closer to San Martin de Los Andes the deluxe property Estancia Tipliuke is the newest option. Estancia Huechahue is a working cattle ranch and is well suited for experienced horseback riders looking for full day and overnight horseback adventures. Estancia Quillen specializes in fishing but is also fantastic for those with a general interest. All these are excellent places to explore Lanin National Park which is a favorite with wildlife enthusiasts, fisherman, and photographers.
