Those who travel to Bolivia are looking for something different.
They will find an intense cultural experience blended with incredible
geography and an ancient history united by the power of nature
at its wildest. The tropical Yungas region flanks the eastern
ramparts of the Andes and eventually becomes the incomparable
upper Amazon basin with thick jungle, savannahs and hundreds of
rivers that wind their way north to the Amazon river. Flor de
Oro, Los Fierros, Noel
Kempff Mercado and Madidi
National Parks are remote and therefore expensive to
get to, but for the few who do, a memorable experince awaits.
Bolivia's stable political situation and friendly people make
the country an attractive destination for adventurous travelers.

Noel Kempff Mercado National Park is a spectacular biological
reserve of 3.8 million acres located in the northeastern corner
of Bolivia in the Department of Santa Cruz. Due to its unique
bio-geographical location, the rich, extraordinary diversity of
species and habitats found in Noel Kempff is unequaled in the
New World tropics. Nowhere else in South America can you see such
a wide variety of habitat with so little effort - humid tropical
rainforests, seasonally flooded savanna, Brazilian cerrado, gallery
forests, thorn scrub, dry forests, and large expanses of wetlands
similar to the Pantanal areas found in Brazil. As a result of
its unique bio-geographic location, Noel Kempff is believed to
contain some of the highest levels of biological diversity in
the world. For example, the park currently has a bird list of
over 630 species, and approximately 130 mammals have been identified,
including abundant populations of Giant Otter, Freshwater River
Dolphin, Jaguar, Giant Anteater, and the very rare and endangered
Maned Wolf.
Northwest:
Madidi National Park was created in 1995 in the Northwest of Bolivia.
It protects a full array of ecosystems, from the high Andes to
the Amazon basin, a vast wilderness of 4,500,000 acres encompassing
unparalleled biological diversity ranging from cloud forest to
dry tropical forest, humid lowland rainforest to savannah, wild
rivers to lakes. This park is home to more than 1000 species of
birds,
44% of all New World species of mammals and an estimated 38% of
neo-tropical amphibians. It is also a critical global hotspot
for endemic plants.
