Take advantage of all the activities that the Lake Region
of Chile has to offer. The Cabins
at Petrohue provides an excellent base for exploring
the Lakes District in depth. Although every activity may
not be available on a particular day, there are opportunities
for hiking, biking, horseback riding and whitewater rafting.
Termas de Calloa
Trekking
Overnight camping excursion exploring the Vincente Perez
Rosales National Park and the Termas de Calloa hot springs,
one of the most scenic spots in the Lakes Region.
Arriving at the park with your guide, you'll
set off on a long trek through native temperate rainforest,
crossing suspension bridges over crystal rivers and waterfalls.
After this full day of trekking, you'll visit the Termas
de Calloa hot springs for a relaxing bath. Overnight at
camp and return to the hotel next day. Higher difficulty.
Half-day Petrohue
River Kayaking
Depart on a serene trip down the crystal clear waters
of the Petrohue River. You'll enjoy spectacular scenery
of old-growth forests and waterfalls. A picnic lunch will
be served on the riverbank. Medium difficulty.
Calbuco Volcano
Horseback Riding
Enjoy gentle horseback riding through native forest with
impressive views of both Calbuco and Orsono volcanoes.
A delicious picnic lunch will be served midday, before
continuing on around the slopes of Calbuco Volcano. There
is plenty of amazing scenery to admire here, including
a beautiful waterfall cascading down the volcano. Late
afternoon return to your hotel. Easy.
Full-day or
Half-day Osorno Volcano Trekking
Depart the hotel for the turquoise waters of the Petrohue
Falls. Then you will set off with your guide for a hike
near the base of perpetually snow-covered Osorno Volcano.
You'll hike along trails through native coigue forest
to Laguna Verde or "Green Lagoon," for an incredible
view of the volcano and its glaciers. Medium difficulty.
Petrohue River
Rafting
Set off on a class III-IV rafting trip down the clear,
azure waters of the Petrohue River. The mighty Petrohue
is one of Chile's most beautiful and exciting glacial
rivers, and you'll marvel at the surrounding spectacular
scenery of old-growth forests, waterfalls and breathtaking
views of the surrounding mountains and volcanos. Your
river guide will expertly maneuver through thunderous
rapids, so hold on and enjoy this thrilling white-water
experience. Wetsuits are provided and a delicious picnic
lunch will be served on the riverbank. Medium difficulty.
Half-day El
Leon Canyoning
This exciting 3-hour hike passes through one of the most
impressive canyons of Vicente Perez Rosales National Park.
You will climb stone walls and swim in natural pools.
The final goal is a 250-foot waterfall. Afterward, a swim
in Todos Los Santos Lake, with an impressive view of the
Andes and the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes. Navigation
is by motor boat on Lake Todos Los Santos. Early afternoon
return to the hotel. High difficulty/hard trekking.
Full-day Trekking
Paso de Los Pumas
After breakfast at the hotel, you and your group cross
Todos los Santo Lake by motorboat for Playa Negra. From
here, the approximately five-hour hike passes through
the native forests of Coihues, Arrayanes, Ulmos and the
Sierra Santo Domingo for Rio Leon. From a viewpoint here,
enjoy wonderful views of Todos los Santos Lake and the
Puntiagudo and Osorno volcanoes. Lunch will be served
here before returning to Petrohue by motorboat. High difficulty/heavy
trekking.
Half-day Osorno
Volcano Mountain Biking
Along with your bilingual guide set off along the shores
of Lake Llanquihue, heading for Ensenada Village. The
off-road riding begins as you approach the snow-covered
Osorno Volcano, and trails will be selected to suit your
abilities. Medium difficulty.
On your final day transfer to the airport
in Puerto Montt, or continue your adventure in Bariloche,
Argentina.
