M/V Skorpios II, Patagonia
The
Skorpios II Cruise operates the Cronos Route from the city
of Puerto Montt, 1000km to the south of Chile's capital
Santiago, to the San Rafael Lagoon. Similar to it's sister
ship Skorpios
III. the M/V Skorpios II is a modern passenger ship
offering luxury cabin accommodations and services. It is
a fascinating six-day voyage, sailing between numerous islands
and rocks, which make up Southern Chile's legendary network
of channels.
Built
in 1988, Skorpios II features the most advanced design and
performance characteristics of international naval engineering,
navigation equipment and communications systems approved
by the American Bureau of Shipping. There are 55 tastefully
furnished cabins, each with en-suite facilities, air-conditioning,
mini bar, in-house telephone and music system. Accommodation
is spread over three decks and there are variety of public
areas including a restaurant and two lounges. On board are
knowledgeable guides who both conduct the visits and present
onboard briefings. The ship operates a free bar policy,
where all wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks are free
for the duration of the cruise.
Saturday: At 12.00 noon, weigh anchor from
Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Montt. Sailing through the Llanquihue
archipelago. Catch sight of Calbuco city. Ancud gulf, archipelago
of Chiloe and Corcovado Gulf crossing at midnight.
Sunday: This morning
the ships navigates through the Moraleda and Ferronave channels.
Arrival at the fishing village of Puerto Aguirre at 11.00A.
After noon continue sailing through Ferronave, Pilcomayo
and Costa channels. At approximately 9:30P, anchor at Hualas
Cove or Punta Leopardos, 20 nautical miles from the San
Rafael Glacier.
Monday: Morning crossing of the San
Rafael Lagoon entrance and Tempanos channel. At around 9:00A,
the ship enters the Lagoon and anchors 2 kms. away from
the Glacier. Boat excursions among the multicolored icebergs.
Weather permitting, the ship gets closer to the Glacier.
5:00P set sail to the Quitralco fjord.
Tuesday: Morning berth at the Quitralco pier.
After breakfast, passengers can bathe in the hot springs
(water temperature is at 32ºC and 30ºC) in covered
and outdoor pools. If the weather allows to, motorboat excursions
through the fjord. At 7:00P, sail towards Chiloe Island,
navigating through the Moraleda and Perez Norte channels.
Wednesday: Morning crossing of the Gulf of
Corcovado. In this area, if the conditions allow to, there
is a possibility of spotting humpback whales and blue whales.
Continue sailing through the oriental coast of the Chiloe
island, Yal channel, Castro stream, arriving at the beautiful
city of Castro at 3:00P. Disembark for a visit to the city.
This evening there will be a farewell party, Captain’s
dinner and dancing. At 10:00P, set sail towards Puerto Montt
through Lemuy, Dalcahue and Quicavi channels.
Thursday: Docked at the Skorpios Terminal
pier in Puerto Montt. After breakfast, disembarkation and
passengers’ transfer to the Puerto Montt Airport.
Service on board, is hospitable and the scenery stunning.
