About 3 hours from Puerto Maldonado by motorized dugout canoe along the Tambopata river, walk through the selva(jungle) and dugout canoe on the larger tributary of the Amazon, the Madre de Dios.
Located on an oxbow lake, a tall canopy of trees surrounds the wooden structures that accommodate travellers. 
Electricity is available in the mornings and evenings until about 10:00 pm. Hot water showers are an appreciated luxury with satisfying meals to sustain you for walks through the jungle.

In October through February it may be possible to spot Giant Otters in the lake during the rainy season.
