Chiclayo and the Royal Tombs
of Sipan Tours

by car from Trujillo or flight from Lima. A representative
will meet and transfer you to the Gran
Hotel Chiclayo or other.
Excursion to the 6th century A.D. Moche Archaeological
site of Pampa Grande, with Peru's largest standing adobe
ramp. Continue to the lavish 1,700 year old tomb of the
Lord of Sipan at Huaca Rajada, acknowledged as the archaeological
discovery of last century because of the vast gold and
silver treasures uncovered.
For a splendid introduction to the cultural history of
the Lambayeque area, visit the Brunning Archaeological museum.
Nearby is the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan, where
the gold of the Sipan treasure is displayed. Continue to
Tucume, a spralling complex known as the "Valley of
the Pyramids", (1,00 - 1,532 A.D.).
Visit the ceremonial complex of Batan Grande capital of
the Lambayeque Culture, (Sican), located at the National
Archaeological and Ecological Reserve of Poma. See the huge
pyramids rise among the largest Algarrobo Forest, Mesquite,
in Peru.
A private transfer to Trujillo
with a visit to Pacatnamu, and ancient fortified ceremonial
and pilgrimage center, (600 - 1,350 A.D.), situated on a
bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean or El Brujo archaeological
complex, which includes richly colored murals recently discovered
on a Moche pyramid.
