Manaka
Jungle Lodge is located close to the junction of the Ventuari
and Orinoco Rivers,
some 60 miles south from Puerto Ayacucho in the Venezuelan
Amazon accessible by charter flight from Caracas
and Puerto Ayacucho. An ecological paradise, Manaka offers
the best and biggest peacock bass fishing,
diverse and unforgettable landscapes, birdwatching
and as much comfort as you can expect in such a remote
area.
Open
in 1987, this five star fishing camp is surrounded by
the vegetation
and mysteries of the Amazon rainforest.
The lodge offers both fishing and ecological programs
with guided tours to the rainforest, contact with
Piaroa,
Guahibo and Baniva Indian communities and varied wild
and bird life (aracaris, toucans, macaws, parrots, honeycreepers,
fruiteaters, eagles, kingfishers, herons, parakeets, antbirds
and manakins).
Only
six luxurious
cabins for a maximum of 12 guests provide comfort rarely
seen in this remote area of Venezuela. Complete with private
bathrooms, hot water, ceiling fans
and your own hammock-equipped porch, the cabins have been
carefully decorated with details crafted by the unique
tribes that live nearby. A common, separate building,
also built in the typical indian style, houses a living
room great to relax in the evenings and a dining room
to enjoy wonderful national and international dishes prepared
by the resident chef.
