The very nice
Paovon Lodge is located in the southwestern portion of
the Guri Lake and is mainly geared to Peacock Bass enthusiast
anglers.
The
fine Paovon Lodge features only 4 rustic style designed,
beautifully furnitured cabins with two spacious double
or triple rooms each, all with porch/terrace, air conditioning,
private bathroom and hot water. Two more cabins serve
as social areas, including a dining room and a bar all
amidst neat gardens of cactus and coconut trees. Horse
riding activities and a spacious jacuzzi are also
available.
Boats
are 16 feet fiberglass, all with double casting platforms,
60 HP outboards, 42 pound thrust electric engines, rod
holders, nets, life saving devices, first aid kits and
radio. Thanks to the strict catch-and-release policy,
Peacock Basses in the Guri Lake can exceed 20 pounds!
The
Paovon Lodge is accessible by 4WD vehicle from Ciudad
Bolivar or Puerto Ordaz. Fishing
for Morocoto, Aimara and Payara is also possible, although
these species are less numerous than Peacock Bass.
