Coche Island, Venezuela

Coche is located south of Margarita Island, and along with Cubagua, these three islands form the only totally insular state of Venezuela: Nueva Esparta. In Coche's 38 square km you will find beautiful landscapes and friendly people dedicated to the chores of the sea.

Coche has a warm, year round pleasant climate around 28C which is perfect to enjoy beautiful beaches like Punta La Playa, San Pedro and El Coco. Its 8,000 inhabitants dwell primarily in the towns of San Pedro de Coche (most important one), El Bichar, Güinima, El Amparo and El Guamache. These communities stand out for their artisan fishing activity, a rich folklore and traditional festivals to honor their saints.

Coche is now a very attractive and well known place for windsurfing lovers, due to its constant and strong winds. It is possible to windsurf the 10 km distance between Playa El Yaque in Margarita to Coche, or the other way around.

Besides its natural attractions, Coche hotels can offer a total beach adventure since a wide range of activities like wave runners, kayaks, paddle boats, snorkeling, 4-wheel motorcycles and mountain bikes to discover the island on your own. Local restaurants offer up seafood fare.

This beautiful and sunny island is easily reachable from El Yaque Beach in Margarita. Hotel stays include the necessary round-trip boat transportation. You could also consider an All Inclusive Day Tour aboard a comfortable sailboat, boat or catamaran from Porlamar, Margarita's main city.
