The
goal of this tour is to visit the Autana Tepuy Natural
Monument, an icon of the Venezuelan Amazon.
A striking tabletop mountain, the Autana Tepuy is located
in Piaroa Indian Territory, who consider it sacred. Navigate
through the stunning natural landscapes of the Orinoco,
Sipapo and Autana Rivers to reach this imposing natural
formation.
Day
1 Puerto Ayacucho – El Danto Rapids
Morning
overland transfer to Samariapo to board a vessel and start
navigating Venezuela’s largest river, the Orinoco. Enter
the Sipapo River and appreciate the difference in the
colors of the waters. Stop in a scenic spot for a picnic
lunch and a refreshing swim. Continue navigating to the
Piaroa Indian community of El Danto Rapids. Walk around
the community and visit a “Conuco”, a native farm system.
Dinner and overnight in hammocks with mosquito nets in
a typical “Churuata”, an indigenous hut. (L, D)
Day
2 El Danto Rapids – Ceguera Rapids
After
breakfast, continue navigating to enter the Autana River.
Stop to visit new Indian communities, have a picnic lunch
and refresh in beautiful river beaches (local summer:
December – April). Reach Ceguera Rapids, located in front
of the impressive Autana Tepuy. Hike
to the top of the Churuata Hill for a spectacular view
of the Autana Tepuy and the meandering rivers in the middle
of the jungle enormity. Return to the Ceguera Rapids for
dinner. Overnight in hammocks with mosquito nets. (B,

Day
3 Ceguera Rapids – Puerto Ayacucho
After
breakfast, start navigating back to Samariapo, stopping
in different places to the ones visited before. Transfer
overland to Puerto Ayacucho.

of the activities can vary according to the time of the
year and the kind of vessel (roofed bongo or boat)
