2
days and 1 night program from Jungle Rudy's Camp Ucaima
Day
1
Depart
after breakfast by curiara and navigate the Carrao River
to Mayupa. Walk for half an hour through this savannah
surrounded by tepuys while the curiara negotiate the namesake
rapids. Continue navigating upriver to the Happiness Pit
(Pozo de la Felicidad), stop for a brief swim and then
pass by the Aonda area and Orchid Island (Isla Orquidea).
Go through the Aonda Rapids and enter the Churun River,
passing numberless rapids. We will stop briefly to have
lunch and enjoy a refreshing swim. Reach the shelter near
Ratoncito Island by mid afternoon, with time to swim and
enjoy the sunset right in front of the falls. Enjoy dinner
and chat with your guide about the local history. Overnight
in common premises (beds) (L, D)
Day
2
After
an early breakfast, cross the river by curiara and start
walking a natural trail through the jungle that will take
you to the Laime Lookout, affording a spectacular panorama
of the world's highest waterfall and the mysterious Auyantepuy.
Back on the trail we continue up to the falls' pool, where
you will have the chance to swim in the cold and pure
waters if the water level permits. Following a well deserved
rest, we walk back to the shelter. Enjoy a delicious lunch,
relax and prepare for the ride back to the camp. (B, L)
