El Pauji and its surroundings is an area that lies 44 miles west of Santa Elena de Uairen. It encloses a complete world of opportunities for the tourist with a genuine interest in nature. The area is surrounded by evergreen and gallery forest, bush and savannah and an endless number of rivers, ravines and waterfalls that make the area a very special place. About 270 species of birds has been recorded in the area. The roads and accommodations make birding in El Pauji a unique and wonderful experience for those who like to get away from the crowds.

Day 1 Santa Elena de Uairen - El Pauji

After lunch, transfer overland to the young and seldom-visited area of El Pauji birding on the way. (L, D)

Day 2 El Pauji and environs

Enjoy a full day of birding in the area. (B, L, D)

Day 3 El Pauji and environs

Enjoy a second full day of birding in the area. (B, L, D)

Day 4 El Pauji - Santa Elena de Uairen

After breakfast, transfer back overland to Santa Elena de Uairen birding on the way. After lunch, continue birding around this frontier town. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Santa Elena de Uairen

There is still time for some early birding around town. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to another destination in Venezuela. (B)
