Day 1: US - Lima
Arrival and transfer to the Hotel Antigua Miraflores.

Day 2: Lima - Cuzco
Depart Lima for Cuzco. Airport reception in Cuzco and transfer to your hotel, the Posada del Inca Hotel. Set off on a tour of Cuzco and the nearby Inca ruins.

Day 3: Cuzco - Machu Picchu
Early morning hotel pick-up and transfer to the train station where you'll set off on a scenic 4-hour trip through the Urubamba Valley, followed by a 20-minute bus ride up to the breathtaking Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Upon arrival you'll set off with your guide to explore the walls, stairways, temples and terraces of Machu Picchu. After lunch served at the hotel, you'll be free to explore this enchanting place on your own. Overnight at the Machu Picchu Pueblo, located in Aguas Caliente. (B,L)

Day 4: Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Enjoy a full morning visit to the citadel. In the afternoon, return to Cuzco by train, where you'll be met and transferred back to your hotel, the Posada del Inca Hotel. (B)

Day 5: Cuzco - Manu Cloudforest Lodge
Depart Cuzco this morning by comfortable bus for Manu Nature Tour's 2600-acre private reserve in the cloud forest near the southeastern boundary of Manu Park. The pace of travel is leisurely, with several stops along the way. Reaching the Acjanaco pass, near the southern-most tip of the Manu Park, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Upon arrival at the Manu Cloud Forest Lodge enjoy a relaxing evening on the lodge's veranda or the fireplace. (L,D)

Day 6: Manu Cloud Forest
This morning enjoy an early excursion to a nearby platform to go birding. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Afterwards there is a hiking excursion to the Waterfall trail. At noon, a delicious barbecue awaits beside a natural pond. Surrounded by massive rocks, hanging vines and bromeliads, we will enjoy a refreshing dip in these crystal-clear waters. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Manu Cloud Forest
After breakfast, head towards Atalaya, the first port on the Upper Madre de Dios River. The ride passes through small villages whose main economic activities are rudimentary farming and low-scale logging. Once at Atalaya board motorized dugout canoes for a river journey. After about four hours, arrive at the Juarez Lake sandbar, where you will disembark and hike for about 1500 feet along a flat trail to the Juarez oxbow lake. Here guides will paddle you in a catamaran to the secluded Manu Lodge, the only lodge in the entire protected wilderness of Manu. (B,L,D)

Days 8-9: Manu Cloud Forest
Rise and shine to the loud call of Howler monkeys and to the option of a dawn paddle on the lake. After breakfast take a hike as Manu Lodge offers the largest and most complete trail system available in the region (over 12 miles of marked trails).

Day 10: Manu Cloud Forest
Today you will have an opportunity to explore the Manu River, and two of the most beautiful oxbow lakes in Manu, Otorongo and Salvador. On the boat trip back to Manu Lodge make a stop at lake Otorongo in hopes to see a troop of woolly monkeys and to climb a 100 ft. observation tower near the lakeshore. (B,L,D)

Day 11: Manu Cloud Forest
Dawn visit to the miradors are the most rewarding and while looking across the seemingly endless horizon, several primate and bird species may be sighted. Visit nearby birding platforms to observe the abundant wildlife without disturbing the area. (B,L,D)

Day 12: Manu Cloud Forest - Cuzco
Today boat back to the confluence of the Manu and the Madre de Dios Rivers and set off back for Cuzco by charter flight. The flight to Cusco is an experience in itself as it provides a totally different perspective of the forest. Upon arrival in Cuzco, transfer to your hotel, the Posada del Inca Hotel. (B)

Day 13: Cuzco – Lima - US
Depart Cuzco for Lima. Arrival in Lima and change planes to return to the US.
