Day 1: US - Lima
Arrival and transfer to the Hotel Antigua Miraflores.

Day 2: Lima - Cuzco
You will be picked-up at your hotel and transferred to the national airport for your flight from Lima to Cuzco. Airport reception in Cuzco and transfer to Posada del Inca Hotel. Set off on a tour of Cuzco and the nearby Inca ruins in the afternoon.

Day 3: Pisac & Ollantaytambo
This morning, depart with your guide for a full-day excursion to the village and ruins of Pisac located 20 miles from Cuzco. After exploring the ruins you will visit a colorful Indian market where you'll be able to trade with locals for a variety of handicrafts. Lunch will be served in Urubamba, followed by a tour of the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. (B,L)

Day 4: Cuzco - Machu Picchu
Early morning hotel pick-up and transfer to the train station where you'll set off on a scenic 4-hour trip through the Urubamba Valley, followed by a 20-minute bus ride up to the breathtaking Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Upon arrival you'll set off with your guide to explore the walls, stairways, temples and terraces of Machu Picchu. After lunch served at the hotel, you'll be free to explore this enchanting place on your own. Overnight at the Machu Picchu Pueblo, located in Aguas Caliente. (B,L)

Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Enjoy a full morning visit to the citadel. In the afternoon, return to Cuzco by train, where you'll be met and transferred back to the Posada del Inca Hotel. (B)

Day 6: Cuzco – Puerto Maldonado – Posada Amazonas
Hotel pick-up and transfer to the Cuzco airport. Check in to depart Cuzco for Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado you will be met and transferred to the Posada Amazonas administrative office in town. After a brief survey of the town depart on the 2-hour boat trip by motorized canoe to a lodge on the Bajo Tambopata River. Upon arrival at Posada Amazonas, unpack and unwind and explore the lodge's surroundings while waiting for dinner. (L,D)

Day 7: Posada Amazonas
Up at dawn for a visit to the parrot clay lick a few minutes down river from the lodge. After an early breakfast depart for a visit to the beautiful Tres Chimbadas Lake, fifteen minutes from Posada Amazonas. Upon arrival, hike a short trail to the lake and take a long, easy canoe ride around it. Then return to the lodge for lunch before embarking on your afternoon outing. In the afternoon walk to the nearest and most active of eight harpy eagle nests found within community territory for observation. Return to Posada Amazonas for overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Posada Amazonas - Tambopata Research Center
After an optional pre-breakfast outing to observe wildlife at peak time, you will travel up the Tambopata River for 3-4 hours into the pristine heart of the reserve. You will arrive at Tambopata Research Center in the late morning, where you'll been assigned to your accommodations. There will be an orientation session over lunch. After lunch you will hike the 1.5-mile Bamboo Trail concentrating on birds of southwestern Amazonia. To cap off a fulfilling day take a short nightwalk on the beach looking for caiman and gazing at the stars. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Tambopata Research Center
At dawn cross the river and enjoy the world's largest macaw clay lick where hundreds of parrots and macaws of up to 15 species congregate daily. Return to Tambopata Research Center for breakfast. After breakfast set off on a hike along the 1.5-mile Ocelot Trail to become acquainted with the low, middle and upper floodplain forest. After a late lunch set off on a five-minute boat ride to a small creek where you will paddle small canoes following the creek into the forest. After dinner, you may embark on a fascinating "frog walk". (B,L,D)

Day 10: Tambopata Research Center - Posadas Amazonas
You will rise at dawn once again to visit the clay like before returning for breakfast. Afterward, you will take a five-minute boat ride to a small, drying oxbow lake where you will spend the morning on a platform in the middle of the pond observing the wildlife around the lake. Directly after lunch, you will return to Posada Amazonas, arriving in the late afternoon. You will spend your last night in the rainforest relaxing in this wonderfully designed lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 11: Posadas Amazonas - Puerto Maldonado – Lima - US
After an early breakfast, you will depart for the 2-hour boat ride to Puerto Maldonado. Depart for Lima. Once in Lima change planes for your return flight to the US. (B)
