Day 1: San Jose
Airport reception and transfer to your San Jose hotel. Overnight accommodations at the Hotel Bougainvillea, located in Santo Domingo less than five miles from downtown San Jose, yet in a country setting with fresh air and panoramic vistas. Amenities include restaurant, bar, swimming pool, sauna, lighted tennis courts and extensive gardens. Breakfast included.
Day 2: Mountain Biking Turrialba
Guided tour through the Cartaga area, ending up in Turrialba. Support van, driver and guide/mechanic available at all times with fresh tropical fruit and drinks, snacks and cool water as well as gear such as helmets, gloves, water bottles, extra bikes and first aid kit. Lunch is included. Overnight at Casa Turire. Located about 10 miles from Turrialba, the Casa Turire is a deluxe country lodge set amidst a sugar plantation overlooking the Reventazon River. The comfortable rooms feature private bathrooms and ceiling fans. During your stay here you may enjoy many of the hotel's facilities, including mountain biking, horseback riding and tennis. Or simply relax poolside and enjoy the hotel's tropical surroundings. Overnight in a Superior room, continental breakfast included. Please note: No children under 12. (B,L)
Day 3: Pacuare River Camp Class III-IV
The Rio Pacuare, one of the few protected tropical wilderness rivers flowing through virgin jungle, is one of the most exciting and beautiful rivers to raft in the world. The trip covers 18 miles of river passing through the magical lush virgin river gorge where a 100 ft waterfall drops off the canyon rim directly into the river. River time about 2 1/2 hours. Mid-afternoon arrival at private camp with time to relax and enjoy the rainforest. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Pacuare River Rafting - San Jose
Proceed down river through rapids such as Las Huacas, the most difficult class IV commercially run rapid. Lunch on river bank. River time about 4 hours. Mid-afternoon take-out and return to San Jose. Overnight at the Hotel Bougainvillea, breakfast included.(B,L)
Day 5: San Jose - Quepos
You will be met at your hotel and transferred by private vehicle to Manuel Antonio National Park on the central Pacific coast. Overnight at the Hotel Costa Verde, nestled on jungle covered hills. The hotel offers views of the Pacific Ocean and has easy access to the abundant wildlife of the jungle, a cliffside pool, bar and restaurant. Kitchenette. (B)
Days 6, 7: Manuel Antonio National Park
Explore the hiking trails and wildlife in Manuel Antonio National Park, snorkel, and sun in the beautiful tropical paradise. Day 8: Quepos – San Jose – Int'l departure
Hotel pickup and transfer to the Quepos Airport for your flight to San Jose. You will be met upon arrival and assisted to the international terminal for check-in.
