Friday 12-Feb-10: Rio de Janeiro
Welcome to Brazil! Upon arrival at Rio de Janeiro's Galeao Airport, clear customs and immigrations. After claiming your luggage, you will be met and assisted by our local representatives and transferred to your hotel. Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world and has the sixth largest population. The tropical redwood pao de brasil gave the country its name. The Portuguese first landed here in 1500, but Rio de Janeiro was settled by the French in 1555 and taken over by the Portuguese in 1567. Rio (90ft.) is famous for its natural setting and Carnival. The city was declared the capital of Brazil in 1834 and remained so until 1960. Overnight at the 4-star Plaza Copacabana Hotel, breakfast included. From the terrace, you have an astonishing view to the beach and the ocean. There, you will also find the swimming pool, the sauna, the fitness center, with modern equipments, and an American Bar, for your relax and leisure. The new Plaza Copacabana Hotel, open August 1999, is perfectly located, within walking distance from the beach, cinemas, shopping malls and theaters.

Included with your package is the following full-day Rio/Corcovado/Sugarloaf tour:
RIO DE JANEIRO'S SUGARLOAF AND CORCOVADO You will be picked up and driven along different districts of the city, arriving at Cosme Velho Station for a cog-wheel tram ride to the top of the Corcovado Mountain and its famous statue of Christ, the Redeemer. After a typical Brazilian barbeque lunch (included), you will then go through a tunnel that crosses the Corcovado Mountain to arrive to Rio de Janeiro's downtown, where the Sambodromo (Carnival takes place here) and the Cathedral are located. You will pass through the Lapa District, towards the Flamengo Park and Urca to climb the mountain by cable car.

Wednesday 17-Feb-10: Int'l departure
Hotel pick-up and transfer to Galeao's international terminal. Check-in for your departure. (B)
