Day 1: Buenos Aires
Upon arrival at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Accommodations at the four-star Elevage Hotel in an executive room, breakfast included. The hotel is located just one block away from Florida Street a main shopping area. The hotel offers a pool, spa and massage services, fitness center, restaurant and bar and laundry service. Rooms have Cable TV, air conditioning, direct dial phones. - 5 nights.
Day 2: Four Balconies of Buenos Aires
A half-day, privately-guided tour of Buenos Aires in which a professor of the University uses four parks and plazas of Buenos Aires (Plaza de Mayo, Parque Lezama and La Boca, Plaza San Martin and Recoleta) to introduce visitors to Argentina, its history, contrasts, contradictions and the peculiar psychology of its inhabitants.(B)
Day 3: Tango Show & Dinner
Day at leisure. This evening, you will be transferred to a Buenos Aires restaurant for dinner and a tango show. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your hotel. (B,D)
Days 4, 5: Buenos Aires
Days to explore the 'Paris of South America' and its environs on your own. Optional day excursions can be chosen from the following list (not included in trip cost). (B)
San Telmo Arts and Crafts Tour
Set off for San Telmo, an artists center. You'll explore the different areas where art flourishes and go behind the scenes to see how the artists work. The tour will include Pallarol's silver workshop where seven generations have been mastering the art of silverwork. Visit the Heft Collection, a private art collection from the 1960's - 90's.
Tigre and Delta Tour
You'll be met by your guide for a half day tour of the northern riverside district of Tigre and San Isidro. Visit Pueyrredon Farm, San Isidro Cathedral, several colonial mansions including Victoria Ocampo's mansion which was one the cultural center of South America. Enjoy the English gardens and traditional rowing and boating clubs.
Full-day Colonia, Uruguay
You will be picked up in your hotel and transferred to the pier. Board the hydrofoil and cross the Rio de la Plata to Uruguay. Once you arrive in Colonia, you will be met at the pier and driven for a visit of the Old Colonial Town. You will tour through the Plaza de Toros (Old Bullfight Place) experience the historic architecture of the area, and see the coast and pier area. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
Your afternoon is free for a further visit of the town, to do some biking, or to visit a local farm dedicated to local productions Later, you will be transferred to the pier to take the hydrofoil back to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred back to your hotel.
Full-day Estancia tour
You will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to El Ombú de Areco, a historic estancia located in San Antonio de Areco, 75 miles from Buenos Aires. A magnificent construction built by Lieutenant General Pablo Riccheri in 1880, the estancia features ample windows and antique furniture all framed in the beauty and tranquility of the Argentinean country. The comfortable and welcoming dining room will be the perfect setting for an excellent Argentinean BBQ, prepared with the world-famous local cuts. Enjoy the day as you like by horseback riding in one of the 38 horses, walking or partaking in the different activities related to cattle ranching. The estancia also features swimming pool with solarium, ping-pong, billiard, football and volleyball.
