three countries: Peru,
Bolivia,
and Argentina.
All tours begin in the middle of the country in the capitol
city of Santiago.
Go north to reach the vast Atacama
Desert or south to Patagonia.
Easter Island lies far west in the Pacific Ocean but is
not pictured below. In the Lakes
District around Puerto Montt, it's common to weave
in and out of the borders of Chile. Planning is everything
because most of the distances are so great. Most connections
are made by flight and transfer by car, van or bus.
