Bordered
by five countries, the tourist route starts in the middle
of the country in the coastal city of Lima. It's usual
to fly to Cuzco, flights leave and arrive early in the
morning due to the altitude and from there overland to
Machu Picchu. Back in Cuzco you may fly to Puerto Maldonado,
Puno or Ica. For travel to the northern regions it's necessary
to make your base back in Lima for exursions onward.
