Peru
Transportation
Train
travel is a popular mode of transportation for tourists
and locals and the one of the only ways to access Machu Picchu. Mostly steam engines chug their way through
the Andes Mountains with views of the terraced crops and
the indians working the land. In the lowlands you'll see
the locals purchase produce through the windows to sell
in the highlands. Our tours include first class, one way
or round trip tickets but if you prefer to ride in third
class you may rub elbows with a chicken or a pig with
a seat. On the way to Lake Titicaca from Cuzco go over
hot springs and beside aliplano villages where locals
await for the train to stop to sell snacks or handicrafts
to your destination of Juliaca, Puno.
Helicopter trips are now available with drop off at the Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel. Although controversial, Inkaterra the company that organizes the service, argues that there is less of an environmental impact than the train service. Undoubtedly they use the quietest aircraft to whisk passengers from Cuzco to Machu Picchu.
Float
over the Sacred Valley of the Incas, admiring the rolling
farm lands in a Hot
Air Balloon. You'll have a bird's eye perspective
of the peaks of Sacantay, Veronica, Pumahuanka and Ausangate.
Share a champagne toast after your approximate one hour
trip and before you head back to Cuzco have a country breakfast
at a manor house in the valley.
